Chunghwa (Zhonghua) is a well-known Chinese cigarette brand, and differences in packaging details can sometimes help distinguish genuine products from counterfeit ones.
When checking a Chunghwa hard pack, pay close attention to the printing quality, origin marking and tear-strip details.
1. Origin Marking on the Side of the Pack

The origin marking on the side of the pack can provide an important visual reference.
On genuine packaging, the printing is accurately aligned, the pattern details are clear, and the diagonal lines are evenly spaced.
On counterfeit packaging, the printing may appear misaligned or poorly registered. The pattern can look blurred, while the spacing between the diagonal lines may be inconsistent.
2. Tear Strip on the Side of the Pack

The shape and finishing of the tear-strip tab are another detail worth checking.
On genuine packaging, the tear-strip tab has a regular semicircular shape with a smooth, clean edge.
On counterfeit packaging, the tab may appear more square or irregularly rounded, with a rougher edge.
3. Printing and Texture on the Front of the Pack

The printing process used for the Tiananmen Gate Tower design is another useful reference point.
On genuine packaging, the Tiananmen Gate Tower design has a noticeable raised or textured feel when touched. The printed lines also show controlled changes in thickness, from broader lines to finer details.
Counterfeit packaging may have little or no noticeable texture. The printed lines can appear rough, uneven or less precisely defined.
Important Note
Packaging features can vary between production batches and markets. Packaging appearance alone should not be treated as absolute proof of authenticity.
For a more reliable assessment, compare multiple packaging details and, where necessary, consult the relevant manufacturer, tobacco authority or authorised source.
